Why Kids Quit Golf (And How We Make Sure Yours Does Not)

Kids do not quit golf because it is hard. They quit because someone made it boring — an hour of stand-still-and-listen instruction designed for adults, scaled down. At 7 years old, attention follows fun, full stop.

So we flip it. Sessions for young kids are built from games: hit the target on the simulator, beat your own high score, closest-to-the-pin against the coach. The grip, posture, and contact fundamentals are hidden inside the games — learned the way kids learn everything, by playing.

What a Kids Session Looks Like

1Short and high-energy.

Sessions are paced for young attention spans — constant movement, constant swings, zero lectures. They leave wanting more, which is the whole trick.

2The simulator hook.

Their ball flight shows up on a giant screen like a video game. Kids who "hate practice" beg to come back — parents report it weekly.

3Celebrate everything.

First clean contact gets celebrated like a tour win. Confidence is the foundation every future skill gets built on.

Everything happens indoors at our Grand Island facility — no sunburned meltdowns in July, no canceled sessions in January, and parents watch in comfort.

Let Them Try a Session

Grand Island Is a Great Town to Grow Up Golfing

With a median age under 35, this is a town full of young families — and full of golf: Jackrabbit Run, Indianhead's junior programs, and courses in every direction. A kid who learns golf here at 8 has playing partners, courses, and junior events within minutes for their whole childhood.

Golf also happens to be the sport they will never age out of. The seven-year-old giggling at the simulator today is the teenager playing high school golf, the adult closing deals on the course, and eventually the parent booking their own kid's first lesson.

The parent-friendly promise: no contracts, no season commitments. Book one session — if your kid does not ask to come back, you owe nothing further.

Kids Golf Lessons — FAQ

What age should my child start golf lessons?

Age 5 is our usual starting point — old enough to swing safely and follow simple games. That said, every kid is different; a quick phone chat about your child usually settles the timing question in two minutes.

Do you provide clubs for kids?

Yes, kid-sized clubs are provided free at every session. Please do not buy clubs first — kids outgrow them fast, and when the time comes we will spec exactly what fits so you buy once, correctly.

My kid has never shown interest in sports. Will this work?

Golf is often the sport that clicks for kids who bounced off team sports — no bench, no tryouts, no getting yelled at across a field. The simulator-as-video-game format wins over a lot of self-described "non-sports" kids.

Can parents watch the lessons?

Absolutely — most do, from comfortable indoor seating. Plenty of parents end up booking their own lessons after watching. Family sessions where you learn together are also available.

How is this different from a summer rec program?

Rec programs are great fun with big groups and little individual attention. Here your child gets actual coaching in a small setting — real fundamentals built correctly the first time, which saves years of bad-habit repair later.

What does a kids lesson cost?

Kids sessions fall within our standard $50-$75/hour range, with family formats that let siblings share time and cost. Sessions for the youngest golfers are often shorter and priced accordingly — ask when you book.
